Celebrated Russian singer Jelena Jakubovitch will perform on Saturday 29 October in Copenhagen at the Radio Konzerthuset as part of Womex, the trade convention for the world music industry that takes place annually in a European city. Jelena will be singing songs from her new album Burn Burn Gypsy Love - an album of gypsy songs and romances. Choosing her favourites from her own enormous collection of recordings dating back to the 1910s, Jelena then introduced the songs to the instruments of the Gypsy diaspora, drawing a musical line from India through North Africa and Greece to France and Spain. In front of a discerning audience made up of industry professionals and the general public, Jelena will be joined by her accomplished band of musicians.

Dressed to the nines in a retro-chic suit, Slovenia's Magnifico gyrates with Euro irony and sultry smoothness, backed by a burst of Balkan brass and a chorus of go-go dancers. His brand new album Magnification will be out later this summer on Piranha.
